As the Learning Lab Manager,you will be responsible for the overall management and success of High School students while they are in the computer labs, creating an environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The Learning Lab Manager fosters a safe learning environment for all students, following guidelines for addressing/reporting issues and incidents; and is responsible for tracking several data points including but not limited to credit recovery, attendance, ISP compliance, and student schedules.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparing and maintaining computer labs to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient environment that supports student learning and technology use.

  • Creating a welcoming, inclusive lab atmosphere where students feel safe, respected, and motivated to engage in academic work.

  • Instructing and independently monitoring students in their use of academic platforms and technology tools to ensure accurate completion of assignments and alignment with instructional goals.

  • Diagnosing, prescribing, treating, and evaluating student behavior and academic engagement on an individualized, ongoing basis to promote continuous improvement.

  • Encouraging and tracking student progress within established timelines, offering guidance and positive reinforcement to help students meet academic milestones.

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, including credit recovery data, attendance, and Individual Student Plan (ISP) metrics.

  • Updating required documentation in compliance with Ombudsman protocols, local district policies, and state or federal education regulations.

  • Preparing detailed and timely reports on student academic achievement, lab participation, and daily activities as needed for school records or stakeholder review.

  • Managing student behavior in alignment with Ombudsman’s behavioral philosophy by setting clear expectations, modeling positive conduct, and applying consistent disciplinary measures when appropriate.

  • Assigning academic courses appropriately within various online learning platforms based on individual student needs, credit requirements, and graduation goals.

  • Supporting and advising students with academic challenges by offering individualized assistance, encouragement, and access to additional resources.

  • Participating actively in center-wide meetings, student/parent conferences, and collaborative planning sessions to align efforts and share insights.

  • Communicating regularly and effectively with students, families, supervisors, and colleagues regarding academic performance, behavior, and support strategies.

  • Participating in assurance and accreditation efforts to help ensure the site meets or exceeds performance benchmarks and quality standards.

  • Engaging in all required professional development activities at the school and district level to maintain current knowledge and continuously improve practice.

  • Responding thoughtfully and professionally to both formal and informal feedback as part of a commitment to personal and team growth.

  • Collaborating with fellow staff members to foster a cohesive, student-centered learning environment that supports the overall success of the center.

  • Performing other duties as assigned to support the academic, behavioral, and operational success of the school and its students.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a closely related field of study.
  • Meet all state substitute teaching credential and/or licensing requirements.
  • Prior experience working with children, preferably in an education and/or classroom setting.
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in alternative educational services for at-risk students with diverse needs at various levels.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, instruction, curriculum, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability.
  • Solid motivational skills and willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and new initiatives.
  • Highly skilled in mentoring, coaching, administrative support, and/or technical support functions.
  • Embraces feedback, continuous learning and is committed to ongoing self -improvement.
  • Well-versed in the use of relevant technology including experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment.
