What You'll Do:
Is a professional practicing in a multi-faceted domain of specialty nursing that focuses on health care of individuals, families, groups, communities and entire populations. Provides care that occurs in primary and specialty care outpatient facilities, non-acute community out -patient settings; during tele health nursing encounters that occur in medical offices or by individual nurses in the home or business. Have authority, accountability and responsibility for nursing practice; makes decisions; and takes action consistent with the obligation to promote health and to provide optimal care recognizing that health is a universal right. Interacts with patients in concert with other health professionals, skillfully uses the nursing process to assess primary concerns, identify problems, analyze and integrate subjective and objective data, decide on a plan of action, apply the appropriate intervention and evaluate the outcome. Additional responsibilities include:
· Printing orthopedic and podiatry schedules when they become available.
· Scanning the orthopedic call schedule to the staff scheduling coordinator.
· Checking the schedules for errors & contacting the scheduling coordinator for changes.
· Placing Epic nurse-only hold slots on providers' schedules where needed.
· Blocking providers' schedules for urgent needs such as surgery.
· Triaging the schedules for any patients that need to be rescheduled.
· Ensuring that patients (post-op, fracture care, injections) are scheduled in appropriate time frames.
· Scheduling pre-op appointments for patients that are having urgent surgery.
· Checking Clarity reports for current MME (acute and chronic pain management).
· Checking charts for MMEs for all podiatry and orthopedic patients.
· Scheduling urgent orthopedic and podiatry appointments.
· Checking providers' in-baskets when they are out for several days.
· Preparing all incoming workers' compensation and insurance paperwork, delivering it to the provider, and submitting it upon completion.
· Ordering grafts as needed and signing off on graft/tissue log sheets weekly.
· Updating and validating information in the tissue logbook every 2-3 months.
· Reviewing protocols yearly and updating them as needed.
