Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in planning for the care of a patient. The Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for the planning, directing and provision of nursing care to patients in accordance with the NH Nurse Practice Act, recognized nursing techniques, and both clinical and administrative policies

  • Demonstrates ability to perform Phase I recovery
  • Demonstrates ability to perform Phase II recovery
  • Demonstrates ability to provide critical care nursing including hemodynamic monitoring, use of monitors, pumps, and ventilators as well as correctly administering medications
  • Performs assessment/re-assessment in accordance with unit standards and/or patient condition.
  • Demonstrates ability to intervene when patient condition warrants, per department protocol.
  • Demonstrates “critical thinking” skills, in our acutely ill pediatric and adult patient, per unit protocol.
  • Provides for the privacy of patients/family.
  • Verbalizes the process for referral when ethical dilemmas arise.
  • Identifies cultural/religious needs, language barriers, developmental, and educational needs, etc. and modifies plan of care as necessary to accommodate these needs.
  • Based on assessment, plans and implements care appropriately including the patient/family/significant other whenever possible
  • Utilizes ancillary services appropriately
  • Assesses and monitors patient for seclusion and restraint in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Demonstrates willingness to and actively does offer assistance to colleagues both within and outside own unit.
  • Implements discharge plan in timely manner, in collaboration with other health team members
  • Successfully assumes resource nurse responsibility: assigns work considering individual staff abilities, patient needs including changes in acuity level; coordinates unit activities; anticipates staffing requirements and delegates appropriately.
  • Adheres to unit/hospital standards for documenting patient care
  • Demonstrates knowledge of procedures including set up, patient care, specimen collection and handling, documentation, and proper utilization and care of all equipment needed. Performs all other duties as assigned
What qualifications you will need:
  • Active NH Registered Nurse or compact Registered Nurse license
  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • 1-3 years of related experience
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
