Will also be responsible for performing tasks to support pre-analytical and post- analytical functions within Essentia Health Laboratories. Promotion of patient safety while performing specimen collection and processing.

In this dual role, you'll support both radiology and lab services by:
General x-ray: Performing supervised and unsupervised x-ray exams in an outpatient & inpatient setting
Providing optimal patient care utilizing established and accepted techniques during administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic imaging that is appropriate for the age of the involved patient population (ages 0 to death)
Upon proven competency, operators are limited by the exams they can perform on small children and babies. Evaluation of abilities is approved and documented by a manager or QA Tech
Safe transfers of patients to and from wheelchairs/carts with knowledge of safe handoff
Assist with department workflow by completing exams in EPIC/PACS and cleaning/stocking exam rooms
Following instruction from staff technologists and establishing good communication with other departments
Collects specimens through venipuncture or capillary skin puncture and other miscellaneous specimens (Urine, swabs, etc.)
Performs specimen processing and handling according to testing requirements to support clinical laboratory testing
Performs laboratory testing, when applicable, per accreditation and licensure requirements
Participates in training of new employees, students, and other personnel as appropriate
Follows Essentia Health rules and policies while handling specimens and equipment to ensure safety and quality

Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Willingness to complete Essentia’s internal Medical Laboratory Assistant training program within 1 year of hire (if you haven’t already graduated from one)
A passion for helping others and a strong work ethic
Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
Licensure Requirements (Essentia will help guide you through this process):
Minnesota: Must complete Basic Radiographic Operator training and pass the MN Radiology Exam within 3 months of hire
North Dakota: Must hold a current Limited X-ray Machine Operator (LXMO) license upon hire
State-specific x-ray certification (MN or ND) depending on location
Duluth Neighborhood Clinics: Valid MN State Driver’s License
