Valle Verde in Santa Barbara, a HumanGood community recently named "Best CCRC in the U.S." by Newsweek magazine, is hiring an Admissions Counselor.

The Admissions Counselor directs the admissions program of the Health Center and is responsible for generating business from referrals sources to meet the community’s revenue and census goals. This is a combined role managing internal admission flow and external marketing.

** Full-time ** $30 - $40/hour (DOE) Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4:00pm

A day in the life may include, but not be limited to:

  • Coordinates implementation of Health Center admission policies and procedures in cooperation with the Health Center Administrator to meet company standards and governmental regulations.
  • Process new referrals that arrive by health system referral software portals, telephone, email, fax and website inquiries, in the manner best fitting the needs of the referral source, obtaining sufficient admission and insurance information in order to ensure appropriate and timely admissions.
  • Maintain communication with pending residents, their families, and referral sources and routinely follow the progress of prospective patients and those referrals not taken.
  • Perform admissions presentations in the field and via phone, as directed by Executive Director, to assist admission team in meeting goals.
  • Uses independent judgment regarding accepting or rejecting referrals based on the business impact of such decisions.
  • Ensure maximum reimbursement through initial payer source, benefits, and eligibility verification, authorization processes, and accurate data entry into Company computer system. Completes required payer source verification forms.
  • Prepares and distributes new admission/discharge planning and notifies residents and families of the meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as required

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • AA Degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Two or more years in a related field that demonstrates the ability to work in a long-term care setting, preferably with geriatric residents, admissions and a marketing background in lieu of education
  • Medical or business office education or training desired
  • Valid driver’s license
