HOW A SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Maintains FAVES organization's computer systems' workflows and is responsible for the upkeep, configuration and reliable operation of computer systems, including fixing network issues along with updating equipment and software.
- Creates and administers profiles and accounts and maintains systems documentation.
- Tunes system performance for optimal conditions. Installs system-wide software.
- Duties:
- Administers and maintains voice, video, and/or data communications systems with focus on *nix operating systems.
- Manages the usage and performance of voice, video and/or data communications systems.
- Maintains system security and ensures compliance with security policies and procedures.
- Maintains *nix specific automation mechanisms for control and provisioning of administered systems.
- Independently provides technical interpretation and solutions in the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures.
- Troubleshoots system hardware and software specific issues.
- Trains end users on the proper use of hardware and software.
- Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
- Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
- Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions.
- Independently ensures data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
- Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
- Ensures that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users.
- Applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.
- May evaluate existing systems and assist with planning long-term strategies.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: Associates degree preferred or higher level degree
CompTia Linux+ (Posses or obtain in 6 months)
Required Experience: 2+ years of related experience
Security Clearance Level: Agency specific Public Trust
Required Skills and Abilities: FAA systems familiarization (Voice/Video)
Location: On-site GDIT facility

The likely salary range for this position is $56,680 - $75,325. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
