Job Summary
Applies scientific knowledge/therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care. As a team member in delivery of respiratory services, and under medical direction, performs a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs, including those in the Pediatric areas.
Essential Functions
Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs, and makes appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines. Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated timeframe. Maintains competency in areas of accountability.
Accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation and billing.
Facilitates a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services / the next point of service / home and provides education to patients and families as it relates to respiratory issues.
Instructs and trains other respiratory care staff, nursing and other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.
Qualifications
Required
Associate's Degree Respiratory Therapy
Graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program. Skills/knowledge/abilities typically gained through less than 2 years related experience
10 years of relevant experience As a Certified Respiratory Therapist
LIC-Respiratory Therapist - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire
CRT-Respiratory Therapist Certification - NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care Upon Hire Or
CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry - NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care Excludes Regional Hospitals 1 Year
CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AHA American Heart Association Regional Hospitals and NICU 90 Days
CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab 90 Days
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days Or
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days
