Learn About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech:
Responsibilities- This position is responsible for assisting in patient care and the preparation of surgical patients by performing routine and delegated duties according to standards and policies of the surgical center.
- Perform scrub duties and related procedures.
- Assist with circulating duties under the direct supervision of the RN circulator assigned to the patient.
- Assist with cleaning and maintenance of supplies and equipment as required.
- Function in the advanced roles of preceptor, service specialist, and instrument room liaison.
QualificationsJob Requirements
- High School or GED equivalent
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) (or provides evidence of meeting the requirements of the NJ Surgical Technology Certification law in effect as of 12/21/2011.
- Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC).
- Good knowledge and understanding of patient flow through L&D.
- Instrument handling, cleaning, OR circulation for OB
Preferred Job Requirements
- 1-2 years as a scrub tech – OB surgical tech experience
- Sterile Processing Certification
