Join Hartford Hospital’s Emergency General Surgery team, where you can practice at your full scope and participate incaring forthe hospital's most critically ill surgical patients. The Advanced Practitioners (APPs) are this team's main clinical drivers of care and work consistently with the most advanced Acute Care Surgeons. This role is a hybrid of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities,with occasional OR opportunities in the future. The Advanced Practitioners (APPs) are part of a multidisciplinary team that plans and delivers care for surgical patients from the emergency room to the operating room, surgical floors, critical care units, and outpatient setting.
Role: Open to Physician Assistants and Acute Care Nurse Practitioners
Location: 79 Jefferson Street, Hartford, 06102
Setting: Inpatient and Outpatient Setting
Schedule: Full-time, 3x13 hour shifts. Monday-Friday 6am-7:30pm. No nights.Premium differentials offered.
Call schedule:Home call, one weekend of answering service phone calls per month.

Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioner Role Scope:
Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Advanced Practitioners perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.
In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Advanced Practitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.
Advanced Practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.
