Job Description

Job Description

Senior Financial Analyst – FP&A (Power Query & SQL) | Direct Hire | North Houston, TX (Hybrid)

Company: ICON Consultants, on behalf of a leading energy equipment manufacturer

Location: North Houston, TX (Houston-area candidates only)
Schedule: Hybrid, 3 days onsite and 2 days remote | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | No travel
Salary: $95,000 – $115,000 base + 5% annual bonus
Employment Type: Full-time, direct hire

Is this you?
You’re an FP&A analyst who builds the financial models, not just the reports that come out of them. You’ve designed complex Power Query models from scratch, kept them running month after month, and fixed them when source data or the chart of accounts changed. You write your own SQL. And you can turn a P&L into clear recommendations for operations leaders.

If that sounds like you, we’d like to talk.

About the Role
Our client, a leading energy equipment manufacturer, is hiring a Senior Financial Analyst to support its Houston-area manufacturing operations. The team relies on a complex Power Query reporting environment, so you’ll need to step in and start developing, maintaining and troubleshooting it from day one.

What You’ll Do

  • Build, maintain, and troubleshoot complex Power Query financial models and data pipelines
  • Write SQL to pull, transform, and reconcile GL, cost, and operational data
  • Prepare rolling forecasts and annual budgets across multiple business lines and locations
  • Lead monthly variance analysis (actual vs. forecast and budget), including gross margin on third-party and intercompany sales and operating margin
  • Present P&L results and recommendations to operations and finance leadership
  • Build and improve KPI reporting and dashboards (Power BI or similar)
  • Support percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition, audits, and SOX controls
  • Drive process improvement and automation across finance and operations

Must-Haves (please only apply if you meet these)

  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining complex financial models in Power Query. You designed the model yourself, not just refreshed or used one someone else built.
  • Ability to write and troubleshoot SQL, including joins and data transformations
  • 5+ years of FP&A or financial analysis experience, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L variance analysis
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Stable work history, ideally 2+ years in each recent role
  • Currently live in the Houston area and able to work onsite in north Houston 3 days a week
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, now or in the future

Nice to Have

  • Power BI, Snowflake, Sigma, and/or Alteryx
  • Hyperion (HFM), Oracle, or SAP
  • Manufacturing, industrial, or oil & gas experience
  • POC revenue recognition, intercompany, or SOX experience

How to Stand Out
In your application or resume, include one example of a Power Query model you built: what it did, where the data came from, and how you maintained it. Candidates who share a specific example will be reviewed first.
