Job Title: Project Engineer / Site Superintendent

This position will primarily support industrial projects in the Houston / Gulf Coast region(chemical, automotive, semi-conductor, food, and related facilities).

Location: Houston, TX (with travel to project sites as required)

Reports to: Executive Vice President / CCO and General Manager

Job Description

The Project Engineer / Site Superintendent will assist in managing and delegating designatedfield activities associated with the project. The ideal candidate will lead the project team toensure the project is done on time, safely, and within budget in accordance with establishedpolicies and procedures. They will be expected to coordinate all parties including owners,suppliers, subcontractors, licensors, and other related parties to achieve completion of theproject in a timely and quality manner.

Essential Functions

Preconstruction Services

Participates in reviewing drawings and specifications.

Will estimate the cost and manhours needed on the project to complete tasks and

achieve customer project expectations within budget and on schedule.

Will be involved in preconstruction planning, regarding all aspects of the budget and theproject schedule.

Project Start-up and Scheduling

Understands project specifications and the contract's general conditions; confirms thatall materials and subcontract work is scheduled accurately and complies with contractdocuments and quality specifications.

Ensures all materials are properly tested according to specifications and ensures that alltest results are properly recorded.

Attends site visits/inspections of subcontractors and vendors to maintain the quality ofthe work.

Project Administration, Operations, and Close-Out

Coordinates and monitors the progress of subcontractors and other related parties indesignated areas of expertise.

Communicates with company Management, subcontractors and all related parties giving aconsistent level of expectations and direction regarding schedules, constructionmethods, company policies and procedures, permits, safety, quality control and otherperformance standards.

Attends daily/weekly project progress meetings with all subcontractor representativesand understands the upcoming days/week's work to be performed and accomplished.

Ensures the project closeout process is finalized to settle all financial obligations,demobilize all resources, and transit the project to the customer.

Promote Customer Relations

Builds effective relationships with customers, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, anduser groups that reflect and support company core values to meet and exceed thecustomer's expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Engineering Degree (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical) &/or ConstructionManagement Degree preferred.

Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the industrial orconstruction field.

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus but not required.

Working knowledge of construction contract language and terms

Ability to multitask and have excellent organizational and time management skills.

Ability to estimate project costs considering the appropriate labor, materials, andequipment necessary for estimation and execution of the project, preferred.

Ability to problem solve and execute changes in the schedule as needed, makingdecisions under tight deadlines.

Ability to organize people, tools, and equipment and plan/manage multiple activities toaccomplish desired results.

Working knowledge of and ability to apply OSHA safety standards.

Commitment to quality by evaluating project-related processes and making necessarychanges, using customer input to make improvements, and meeting or exceedinginternal and external customer expectations.

Proficiency in using a personal computer (PC) and company communication tools, suchas email, internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook).

Ability to dictate &/ or review daily logs, monthly reports, etc. as needed for clarificationand updates of project progress.

Working Environment:

Due to daily conditions changes on construction projects, when employees are outsideof the office, trailer, or structure, they must wear appropriate personal protectiveequipment as required by the company's safety policies and as required for weatherconditions.

Must be able to work extended hours, weekends, and possible holidays as required bythe project schedule to meet the customers' deadlines.

The candidate will be based in Houston but will be required to travel to project sites inGulf Coast and occasionally to other U.S. locations.
