Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled, versatile, and dependable Carpenter / Construction Handyman to join our team. As a "jack-of-all-trades" team member, you will play a crucial role across a wide variety of commercial and industrial projectsranging from ground-up framing and structural installations to interior finish work, tenant fit-outs, and maintenance repairs. (Pay is commensurate with experience)

Key Responsibilities
- Rough & Finish Carpentry: Perform framing (wood and light-gauge metal stud), layout, drywall installation, door and hardware fitting, trim work, cabinetry, and custom woodwork.
- General Construction & Multi-Trade Support: Execute basic cross-trade tasks as needed, including minor patching, painting, concrete/masonry repairs, drop ceiling installs, and siding/flooring repairs.
- Property Repair & Maintenance: Support ongoing maintenance, renovations, and tenant improvements across commercial and industrial properties managed by DBD.
- Blueprint Reading & Site Prep: Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate layout, leveling, and execution.
- Site Management & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Problem Solving: Assess structural or job-site challenges and adapt methods to ensure projects remain on timeline and within budget.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Verifiable hands-on experience in commercial or industrial carpentry, general contracting, or facility maintenance.
- Versatility: Proven ability to handle multiple phases of construction, from selective demolition, structural remodeling, rough carpentry, and general site installations.
- Tools: Possession of basic hand and power tools necessary for daily carpentry tasks is a plus, but not required.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of building codes, materials, layout techniques, and safety protocols.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work on ladders/scaffolding, stand/bend for extended periods, and work in varying weather conditions.
- Licensing: Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record and reliable transportation to job sites across Southeast Michigan.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with both industrial and commercial steel-stud/drywall framing.
- Basic knowledge of additional trades, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, or HVAC touch-ups.
- OSHA 10/30 certification is a plus.
