Job Description

This role focuses on installing, configuring, and commissioning ground system installations at new sites, with a strong emphasis on electrical and network systems quality. You will support site preparation and cleanup, perform basic diagnostics and maintenance, and ensure systems operate reliably and safely. The position requires a hands-on, safety-first mindset and the flexibility to work across different schedules and evolving operational needs.

THIS ROLE WILL BE BUILDING A LAUNCH PAD SITE FOR DRONES IN DALLAS, TX. WHILE IT IS BASED OUT OF AUSTIN, TX YOU MUST BE ABLE TO TRAVEL EVERY 2 WEEKS TO DALLAS FOR WORK (THINK 2 WEEKS OF TRAVEL AND 2 WEEKS AT HOME). ALL AIRFARE, HOTELS, AND FOOD WILL BE PAID DURING TRAVEL TIME.

$10,000 IN EQUITY PAID AFTER BECOMING PERMANENT EMPLOYEE AFTER 6 MONTHS.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and commission ground system installations at new sites, including electrical and network components.
  • Perform quality control and quality assurance checks on installed electrical and network systems to ensure they meet required standards.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve basic electrical and network issues, system faults, and site problems limited to configuration-level tasks (excluding licensed electrician-level work).
  • Prepare sites prior to construction crews arriving, including organizing materials, staging equipment, and performing initial setup tasks.
  • Perform site cleanup and restoration after installation or maintenance activities to maintain a safe and orderly work area.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and system upgrades to maximize uptime, reliability, and overall performance of ground systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of installations, site surveys, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting steps to support traceability and continuous improvement.
  • Follow and promote a safety-first mindset in all tasks, adhering to safety procedures, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with other technicians, construction teams, and operations staff to coordinate work and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Use basic tools, test equipment, and schematics to assemble, test, and verify electrical and mechanical components as part of system installations.
  • Support troubleshooting of avionics-related components and systems as directed, focusing on configuration and basic repair activities.
  • Adapt to changing operational requirements, including schedule changes and evolving installation or maintenance priorities.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of field service experience.
  • Ability to read and work from schematics and technical drawings for electrical and mechanical assemblies.
  • Hands-on experience with assembly and maintenance of technical systems or equipment.
  • Basic skills in testing circuits and verifying electrical and network connections.
  • Experience performing routine maintenance and basic repairs on mechanical and electronic systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve basic electrical and network configuration issues (non-electrician level).
  • Familiarity with electronics and mechanical components used in ground or avionics systems.
  • Experience with avionics systems, avionics repair, or avionics troubleshooting at a basic or support level.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated safety-first mindset in all work activities.
  • Ability to maintain clear and accurate records of installations, maintenance actions, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible schedules, including days, swings, nights, weekends, and rotational shifts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a maintenance technician in a field service or construction-related environment.
  • Experience in construction, electronics, or mechanical repair.
  • Exposure to automated or robotics-related systems, especially in logistics or delivery environments.
  • Comfort working with both electrical and network systems in a field setting.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with construction crews, technicians, and operations teams.
  • Capacity to adapt quickly to constant operational changes and shifting priorities.

Work Environment

This is a field-based role working on ground system installations at new sites, including both indoor and outdoor environments. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
