Deepwater is a global leader in subsea corrosion control for all asset types, including oil and gas platforms, coastal terminals and offshore wind turbines. The company operates from facilities in the USA, the UK, Brazil and Australia. Deepwater designs, builds and installs retrofit cathodic protection systems, provides corrosion engineering and inspection services.

The Role

The Controller will report to the Director of Finance and serve as the senior leader of the accounting function in the Houston office. This role is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and building a high-performing team.

The Controller will directly manage the Accounting Manager and provide leadership, guidance, and development to the broader accounting function. This individual will partner closely with the Director of Finance and cross-functional leaders to support business decisions, improve processes, and ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations and company policies. S/he must also possess a strong customer service attitude, have strong analytical and mentorship skills and support a professional, can-do, goal-oriented culture.

You will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring Finance deadlines are met
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations (accounts payable, receivable, general ledger, payroll)
  • Manage and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for the region
  • Analyze financial performance and variance against budget
  • Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS) and company policies
  • Coordinate audits (internal and external) and respond to findings
  • Analyze financial data and trends, providing actionable insights to the Director of Finance/CFO
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
  • Tax and Regulatory Compliance: Oversee tax planning and compliance (e.g., income tax, VAT/GST, payroll taxes). Liaise with tax advisors and government authorities. Ensure timely and accurate filings
  • Support and oversee administrative tasks
  • Managing the Finance resources and ensuring productivity. Manage and mentor finance and accounting staff. Set team goals and ensure proper training and development. Implement performance management practices
  • Support with HR related duties as needed
  • Ensuring appropriate Finance work/project opportunities are available to stretch and challenge employee’s own current capability
