Job Description Atwell/NEI - Remote role
Oversees a team producing full detailed-design packages that includegeneral arrangements, elevations, foundation plan and details,structure design and fabrication details, bus and connection details, bill of materials, building plan, conductor stringing tables, fence details, permitting,structure loading diagrams, construction details, and supporting calculation packages.
Manages and coordinates design activities, project planning, team level scheduling and optimization, and coordination between scopes of other disciplines for small to large scale projects to ensure adequate project coverage and operational efficiency.
Works with Directors to develop andmaintainWorkload Forecasting, ensuringan accurateactive project list, milestone dates, and estimate to complete (ETC) hours.
Exemplifiesownershipand accountabilityover your team's project portfolio,planning,andtaking action to improveandmaintainteam performance.
Overseestheteam's weekly budgets and track project finances tomaintainfiscal responsibility.
Addressesandmitigateproject risks to prevent escalation and ensure continuity.
Understands NEI processes, best practices, standards, andpolicies thoroughlyandprovidesguidance to your teamasrequired.
Keepsthe team informed about the latest developments and ensuresadherence toestablishedstandards.
Assessesteam strengths and weaknesses, ensuring continuous development through training and coaching.
Maintainsexpert-level knowledge of NEI's QA/QC processes. Guides theteam through these processes, ensuring all steps are followed andmaintainingaccountability for compliance on every project.
Supports business development,assistswith marketing tasks, andsupportsthe development of project proposals as needed.
Supports the client relationship asrequiredto ensureongoing satisfaction and collaboration.
Oversees the detailed physical design and engineering for all aspects of electric power substationsincludinggenerating plants, utility transmission and distribution, and industrial and commercial facilities.
Reviews the work of your team members (engineers, designers, drafters) forgeneral quality, accuracy, and adherence to NEI and/or client standards and processes.
Understands assigned scopes and develops engineering cost estimates, schedules, and assumptions to support change orders in coordination with project manager.
Investigatesand resolvestechnical issueswithinthe teamto ensure project continuity.
Preparesa variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports,andproposals.
Attend safety training and adhere to all safety rules and guidelines.

Education:Bachelorsinelectricalor civilengineeringor similar field from an accredited institution
Experience:5+ years of engineering or relevant field experience
Licensure:FEisrequired, PE ispreferred
Engineeringexpertisein physical substation design including substation electrical clearances, one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, physical layouts, section & elevations, bus configurations, control buildings,selectionof substation equipment and any other aspect of HV and EHV substation physical engineering.
An understandingof structural substation engineering, including steel design, reinforced concrete design, and foundations is a plus.
The abilityand desire to stamp drawings is highly preferred.
Proficiencywith AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite
Experience adhering to National Electric Code (NEC), National Electric Safety Code (NESC), IEEE codes and standards, and relevant county, city, and state regulations.
Ability to develop staff through mentoring and coaching.
Possesses excellent critical thinking skills.
Commercial understanding of the engineering or construction industries
Ability toeffectively communicateverbally and in writing with customers and internal personnel; exercises strong intrapersonal skills.
Must beself-motivated, well-organized, andskilleddecision maker that is comfortable in a fast-paced design environment.
Possesses effective written and oralcommunicationsskills.
Good interpersonal and people skills
