Highway Maintenance Technician
Night Shift - 8pm - 4:30pm
$18-19/hr
Contract - Hire
The Maintenance Technician I is an entry-level position supporting highway and infrastructure maintenance activities. This is a hands-on role that involves outdoor work, operating tools and equipment, and working as part of a team. Previous maintenance experience is helpful but not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general highway and infrastructure maintenance tasks.
- Follow verbal and written instructions and established safety procedures.
- Safely operate and maintain hand and power tools, vehicles, and equipment.
- Work safely around mechanical equipment and active traffic areas.
- Maintain a clean, secure, and safe work site.
- Assist team members with maintenance activities as needed.
- Complete daily work logs and basic vehicle inspections.
- Participate in required safety meetings and training.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Demonstrate reliability, a strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED preferred, but not required.
- Previous maintenance, construction, or outdoor labor experience is a plus.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Basic smartphone and mobile application skills.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record, as required.
- Ability to successfully complete required background and drug screening.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency/on-call assignments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work for extended periods.
- Ability to work safely in active traffic areas.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
- Ability to wear required PPE at all times.
