The Surveyor in Training supports a wide range of land surveying activities, including CAD drafting and design, boundary analysis, title research, legal description preparation, easement documentation, survey calculations, and final deliverable reviews. This role ensures all work complies with applicable state regulations while collaborating with project teams to define scope, schedules, deliverables, and resource needs. The position involves occasional travel for courthouse and record research, coordination with field and office staff, and active participation in maintaining high-quality standards and best practices within the surveying profession.
ResponsibilitiesThe Surveyor in Training works in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that involves both office and field-based activities. In the office, the role relies heavily on AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center (TBC), and other surveying software tools to produce accurate drawings, calculations, and documentation. The position requires regular coordination with survey technicians, engineering staff, field crews, and other office personnel, fostering a collaborative and team-oriented culture focused on quality and accuracy. The role includes occasional and sometimes extended travel to project sites, courthouses, and other office locations, where the Surveyor in Training conducts research, supports field operations, and participates in project execution. Work hours may vary based on project deadlines and field schedules, requiring flexibility and effective time management. The environment emphasizes professionalism, integrity, accountability, and adherence to established policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.00 - $44.00/hr.
