Job Title: Payroll Specialist
Location: Northwest Houston, TX
Compensation: $70,000 - $85,000 annually
Job Type: Direct Hire

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our finance team in Northwest Houston. This role is responsible for supporting the full-cycle payroll process, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with applicable payroll regulations. The ideal candidate has hands-on payroll experience, strong attention to detail, and experience working with UKG in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
- Process full-cycle payroll accurately and timely
- Review payroll data for accuracy, including hours, earnings, deductions, and adjustments
- Process payroll changes including new hires, terminations, transfers, and employee updates
- Ensure payroll is processed in accordance with company policies and established deadlines
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee pay issues
UKG & Payroll Systems
- Utilize UKG to process payroll and maintain accurate employee payroll records
- Maintain payroll data and employee information within the payroll system
- Assist with system updates, payroll reporting, and troubleshooting as needed
- Ensure accurate payroll records and documentation
Payroll Compliance & Reconciliation
- Ensure payroll practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations
- Reconcile payroll reports and payroll-related accounts
- Review payroll taxes, deductions, and other withholdings for accuracy
- Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reporting
Employee Support & Reporting
- Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, taxes, and payroll-related issues
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll and employee information
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports as needed
- Partner with HR and Accounting to resolve payroll issues and ensure accurate employee data
- Assist with payroll audits and other payroll-related projects
Qualifications
- 2+ years of payroll experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Human Resources, or a related field required
- Hands-on experience with UKG required
- Experience processing full-cycle payroll
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, deductions, and payroll compliance
- Strong Excel and data management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict payroll deadlines
