About the Clinician's WorkdayThe Physician Associate will provide inpatient cardiothoracic and vascular surgery coverage on a day shift basis, with call required when on assignment and weekend call averaging approximately 10 hours. Clinical responsibilities include post-operative care for cardiothoracic and vascular patients, emergency surgical intervention, and management of consults and referrals from the emergency department, Cath Lab, and all hospital clinicians. The clinician must be proficient in vein harvesting during cardiac surgery and retrieval of vascular tissues for use as a bypass conduit. Additional duties include surgical assistance, rounding, coordination of care, prescription writing, and ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests.
