Low Voltage Project Manager

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Low Voltage Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of low voltage installation projects from award through closeout. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who combines strong technical knowledge of low voltage systems with proven project management, budgeting, and vendor coordination skills. This role is responsible for keeping projects on schedule and on budget while managing subcontractors, field crews, and client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Organization
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, scopes of work, and milestone timelines for multiple concurrent projects
- Review contract documents, drawings, and specifications to develop accurate project plans and material take-offs
- Maintain organized project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, permits, and as-built drawings
- Coordinate pre-construction meetings and site walk-throughs with clients, general contractors, and internal teams
Budget & Financial Management
- Develop and manage project budgets, tracking labor, material, and subcontractor costs against projections
- Review and approve purchase orders, material procurement, and equipment rentals
- Prepare and submit accurate job costing reports, forecasts, and profitability analyses
- Process change orders and ensure proper documentation and billing for scope changes
- Monitor project billing, invoicing, and collections in coordination with accounting
Subcontractor & Crew Management
- Solicit bids from and negotiate contracts with low voltage subcontractors and vendors
- Dispatch and schedule subcontractors and in-house technicians to meet project timelines
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor workmanship, safety compliance, and progress
- Resolve field issues, coordinate trade conflicts, and ensure quality control across all crews
- Hold subcontractors accountable to contract terms, schedules, and quality standards
Technical Oversight
- Provide technical guidance and quality oversight across low voltage disciplines, including but not limited to:
- Structured Cabling / Voice & Data
- CCTV and Video Surveillance Systems
- Access Control Systems
- VoIP Systems and Infrastructure
- POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) Telephony
- Troubleshoot technical issues and support field teams with system design or installation questions
- Ensure all installations meet applicable codes (NEC, BICSI, local AHJ requirements) and manufacturer specifications
- Coordinate system testing, commissioning, and turnover to clients
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, general contractors, and architects throughout the project lifecycle
- Provide regular project status updates, addressing concerns proactively
- Manage client expectations regarding scope, schedule, and budget
- Lead project closeout, including punch lists, final documentation, and client sign-off
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in low voltage wiring and systems installation, including but not limited to: Voice/Data cabling, CCTV, Access Control, VoIP, and POTS Telephony
- Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, cost tracking, and financial reporting
- Proven experience coordinating and dispatching subcontractors and field crews
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Working knowledge of low voltage codes, standards, and best practices (NEC, BICSI, local codes)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project
- Proficiency with RingCentral
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Preferred:
- Industry certifications such as BICSI Installer, Low Voltage License, or manufacturer-specific certifications (e.g., Axis, Lenel, HID, Avigilon)
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with construction estimating and bid preparation
Physical Requirements
- Some travel required to active job sites, including construction environments
- Ability to climb ladders, access crawl spaces, and work in various field conditions as needed
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
