Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Examines vehicle and discusses assessments with Transportation Supervisor regarding the nature and extent of damage, problem, or malfunction. Performs preventative maintenance for vehicles according to predetermined schedules. Raises vehicle, with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle. Removes units such as engine, transmission, or differential. Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear. Repairs or replaces parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings. Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One (1) year professional experience as a vehicle maintenance technician. Certification as an ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) desirable. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age or older.

Job Duties: Provide transportation services for people with disabilities who are unable to use regular public transit. Operating specialized vehicles, such as buses or vans, that are often equipped with ramps. Ensure the safe operation of the vehicle and the safety and comfort of passengers. Picking up and dropping off passengers, and accommodating passengers with mobility devices, medical equipment, and a variety of disabilities. Safely load and unload each passenger. Securing mobility equipment inside the vehicle.
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
