The Crew Leader is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and safety to a team of crew members performing field maintenance operations. This role also ensures proper equipment and supplies are assigned to the crew for task completion in accordance with the District’s mission to maintain the Infrastructure.
Job Duties: Oversee and direct a crew of field personnel which includes laborers and equipment operators. Delegate work assignments and instructions to crew members in accordance with the Production Supervisor’s instructions for program requirements such as herbicide spraying, channel clearing and debris removal. Reporting to the Crew Leader, the Equipment Operator II is responsible for operating various small engines and moderate to heavy equipment used to maintain clear channels, drainage elements and right of ways in accordance with the District’s mission to maintain the Infrastructure.
Job Duties: Operate trucks and equipment including spray equipment, tractors, chainsaws, 4-wheel drive extreme utility vehicles (XUV) and weed trimmers. Mix herbicide(s) in accordance with manufacturer and District’s formulas and instructions and dispense from truck, tractor, XUV or from backpack. Clean and repair all spray equipment and properly store herbicides and supplies. Cut weeds, grass, and brush in, along and around channels, drainage elements and right-of ways using equipment designated for that purpose. Dislodge and remove drifts and debris (trees, limbs, brush, vines, trash and refuse) from channel berms, slopes and bottoms for proper disposal. Drive trash truck to and from job sites, dump sites or landfills. Check and maintain all equipment fluids, perform daily inspection(s) and fuel and wash equipment, as needed. Harris County Flood Control District is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Equipment Operator III.
Reporting to the Crew Leader, the Equipment Operator III is responsible for operating a variety of heavy (large), mid-sized and small equipment, engines, attachments, and hand tools used to maintain the County's channels and bayous.
Job Duties: Operate heavy and/or technical equipment such as large trash trucks, airboats, skid steer, etc. Record work performed on daily activity sheets, track mileage and complete herbicide reports. Perform job hazard assessments, identify any obstacles to completing tasks and report to the supervisor. Assist in the supervision of crew members when needed. Mix herbicide(s) in accordance with manufacturer’s label and dispense from truck, tractor, or 4-wheel drive extreme utility vehicles (XUV). Dislodge and remove drifts and debris from channels, basin, and vacant lots. May perform other duties that can be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs.

The Harris County Flood Control District is seeking exceptional, detail-oriented and qualified candidates for the role of Utility Coordinator.
The Utility Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the District's private utility coordination including utility conflict identification, relocation, and necessary pay-out items. This position will also assist and work closely with the District's project managers and utility sub- consultants in tracking private utility projects.
Job Duties: Oversee the review of design plans and the utility conflict table for accuracy. Issues utility notifications and coordinates office/field meetings with team members, external utility representatives, and consultants when needed. Process all purchase order requests including follow-up and distribution. Create and distribute all department correspondence including letters, memos, requests for invoices, etc. Coordinate agenda items for Commissioners' Court, including after court action items. Maintain, track and resolve issues with utility relocation schedules to ensure completion of tasks by agreed-upon dates. Provide bi-monthly status update reports and leads the utility coordination & management team status update briefings. Oversee contractor’s workload, assist in prioritizing tasks to ensure deadlines are met. Lead and participate in department initiatives and process improvements. Perform other duties that may be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs.
