SUMMARY: Operates automated and manual equipment.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.Reads job specifications or work instructions to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template, as required.Positions work piece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade.Locks pieces in place.Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine.Reports work piece defects or machine malfunction to working foreman.Makes minor adjustments.Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.Inspects parts per SPC requirements and charts when needed or required and enters into computer.Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies or work pieces.Operates hand tools to remove burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from work piece.Assists in machine set up, and stacks, marks, packs, and transports finished work pieces.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Requires knowledge typically acquired through:Completion of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED),One to three years related experience or training; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.Ability to write simple correspondence.Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.Ability to comprehend simple decimals and fractions.Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Ability to perform minor adjustments to tools and equipment.Ability to maintain tools and equipment utilized in assignments.QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
