Job Title: Journeyman Electrician

GovFirst is seeking a qualified and experienced Journeyman Electrician to support tunnel, bridge, and roadway infrastructure projects throughout Southeast Virginia.
The successful candidate is responsible for:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial and industrial electrical systems, including load centers and distribution systems.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, isolate, and repair electrical components up to and including 480 VAC three-phase systems.
- Maintain electrical wiring systems in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable industry standards.
- Inspect electrical systems and components to evaluate condition, identify deficiencies, and recommend corrective or preventive maintenance actions.
- Assemble, install, maintain, and repair electrical apparatus, wiring, and control systems supporting tunnels, bridges, and roadway infrastructure.
- Plan layouts and wiring configurations for new and existing electrical installations.
- Fabricate electrical components and inspect completed work to ensure compliance with specifications, safety codes, and regulations.
- Inspect electrical work performed by contractors and verify conformance with project requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Utilize electrical testing instruments to diagnose and resolve system malfunctions.
- Estimate labor, materials, time, and costs associated with maintenance and electrical projects.
- Maintain accurate records related to inspections, repairs, maintenance activities, and work orders.
- Safely operate electrical testing equipment, hand tools, power tools, vehicles, and maintenance equipment.
- Maintain, clean, and service tools and equipment used in daily operations.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, project management, contractors, and team members regarding work status and project needs.
- Respond safely and appropriately to electrical emergencies.
- Operate and perform work from bucket trucks as required.
- Support traffic monitoring and transportation control systems when applicable.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or project management.
