Position Overview
- Reliance One, Inc. is hiring an experienced Test Automation Engineer for one of our established technology clients in Plano, Texas.
- The Test Automation Engineer will design, execute, and analyze performance tests for applications, APIs, and backend services. This position requires strong hands-on experience with k6 and JMeter, with k6 serving as the primary performance-testing tool.
- The ideal Test Automation Engineer can identify performance bottlenecks, interpret complex test results, and work with development and infrastructure teams to recommend effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and enhance performance-testing scripts using k6 and JMeter.
- Use k6 as the primary performance-testing platform and JMeter as a secondary tool.
- Design and execute load, stress, scalability, soak, spike, and endurance tests.
- Test web applications, APIs, backend services, and distributed systems.
- Analyze response times, throughput, error rates, latency, CPU usage, memory consumption, and other system-performance metrics.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and collaborate with technical teams to determine root causes.
- Recommend application, infrastructure, database, API, or configuration improvements.
- Define performance goals, test scenarios, workloads, benchmarks, and success criteria.
- Create clear performance-test reports and communicate findings to technical and business stakeholders.
- Support system benchmarking, capacity planning, and scalability assessments.
- Analyze application logs, monitoring data, and infrastructure metrics.
- Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Maintain reusable test scripts, documentation, test data, and reporting standards.
- Support continuous improvement of performance-testing processes and tools.
Required Qualifications
- Five to 12 years of overall professional experience.
- Strong experience in performance testing and test automation.
- Three to five years of hands-on experience using k6.
- Deep knowledge of k6 and JMeter.
- Experience designing and executing load, stress, soak, spike, endurance, and scalability tests.
- Experience testing APIs across multiple API architectures.
- Experience testing web applications and backend services.
- Strong understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, cookies, sessions, headers, and authentication.
- Ability to analyze logs, system metrics, monitoring data, and performance-test results.
- Scripting experience with JavaScript, Groovy, or Python.
- Experience identifying performance bottlenecks and recommending corrective actions.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or a similar CI/CD platform.
- Experience integrating automated performance tests into deployment pipelines.
- Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized applications.
- Experience supporting Amazon EKS or a similar managed Kubernetes environment.
- Experience with cloud-based performance testing, capacity planning, and application benchmarking.
- Familiarity with observability and application-performance monitoring tools.
