Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Machine Scaler / Scale Operator to join our production team at our East Rutherford, NJ facility. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating automated weighing systems, staging raw materials, and verifying batch formulas to ensure strict adherence to quality, safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Operation: Set up, calibrate, and operate automated scaling machinery, hoppers, and digital batch dispensers.
Ingredient Measurement: Precisely measure, weigh, and stage bulk dry powders and liquids according to detailed formula sheets.
Calibration & Verification: Conduct regular tare checks, zeroing, and scale verifications prior to every production run.
Line Clearance & Monitoring: Monitor ingredient flow through feeders and conveyors; safely resolve minor material jams.
Batch Documentation: Record batch numbers, lot tracking codes, ingredient weights, and scrap/loss data in the tracking system.
Sanitation & Safety: Maintain clean and sanitized hopper equipment and workstations adhering to GMP protocols.
Quality Reporting: Promptly notify shift supervisors and QA leads of formula deviations or mechanical issues.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
Experience: Prior experience in manufacturing, food processing, or packaging is preferred (on-the-job training provided).
Math Aptitude: Strong basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, and unit conversions between lbs, oz, kg, and grams).
Attention to Detail: Ability to carefully follow exact written formulation recipes and safety checklists.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs repeatedly and stand/walk comfortably for the duration of the shift.
Work Ethic: Punctual, reliable, and comfortable working in a dynamic production environment.
