Job Description

Entry-Level Technical Project Assistant – Building Automation Systems (BAS)

We are seeking a motivated Entry-Level Technical Project Assistant to support the installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of Air Conditioning Control Systems, both in the field and in the office. Candidates oriented to electrical and HVAC trades are preferred.

This role combines technical field support on construction sites with project coordination and documentation responsibilities. You will work closely with project managers and installers to help ensure projects stay organized, properly documented, and on schedule. The position also involves learning how to troubleshoot controls systems, assist with control panel fabrication in the shop, and identify and install critical components such as sensors and electronic controllers. Commissioning in the field is a key part of the role to confirm that installed systems meet project specifications.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is technically curious, organized, and interested in learning how modern building automation systems are installed and commissioned. Extensive training and mentorship will be provided so you can develop the technical and project skills needed for success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with Building Automation System installations at construction job sites
  • Help guide installers using project drawings and documentation, including indicating device locations and coordinating the BMS low-voltage network with other trades
  • Support complex installation tasks when needed
  • Assist with control system startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning to confirm systems operate as specified
  • Observe and learn how air conditioning systems operate with automation controls
  • Collect field information, photos, and measurements for project documentation
  • Organize project files, documentation, and reports; maintain accurate records of project progress (daily logs are a critical responsibility)
  • Help prepare reports based on field information
  • Assist project managers with project tracking and coordination with internal and external stakeholders
  • Support control panel fabrication and component identification/installation in the shop as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education (college coursework, associate degree, or technical training) is a plus
  • Education or experience in Construction Project Management, HVAC systems, or Electrical systems is preferred
  • Interest in technical systems, air conditioning, electrical/low-voltage networks, or building automation
  • Willingness to learn technical aspects of the job to support installers and perform troubleshooting and commissioning
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Comfortable using computers and basic software (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Willingness to learn specialized controls software platforms
  • Ability to work regularly on construction sites and in the field
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a personal vehicle required

What We Offer
A stable position with strong opportunities for learning and career development, paid time off, paid holidays, and bonuses tied to company results.
