Job Description

Job Description

Jessica Barns Farmers Insurance

Coldwater, Michigan | Full Time

Advertised annual earnings: $45,000 to $65,000

Compensation includes base salary, commissions, and bonus opportunities.

A successful insurance career starts with curiosity, consistent effort, and the willingness to ask for the business.

Jessica Barns Farmers Insurance is hiring a sales representative to help grow our Coldwater agency. You’ll connect with prospective customers, learn what they need to protect, and help them choose appropriate insurance coverage.

You don’t need an insurance background to apply. You do need to be comfortable starting conversations, following up, and working toward sales goals. We’ll provide practical training and coaching as you learn.

Responsibilities

Some conversations will lead to a sale. Others will require another call, a different approach, or patience. Your job is to keep opportunities moving by:

  • Reaching prospective customers through outbound calls and other agency outreach.
  • Preparing quotes and explaining coverage options in clear, everyday language.
  • Following up on quotes, answering questions, and asking customers to move forward.
  • Identifying additional coverage needs among new and existing customers.
  • Developing referral relationships and participating in local community events.
Requirements

What Makes This a Good Fit

  • You enjoy having a goal to work toward and can stay productive without waiting for someone to tell you the next step.
  • You’re comfortable hearing “no,” willing to learn from it, and ready to start the next conversation.
  • We’re looking for clear communication, dependable follow-through, basic computer skills, and a genuine interest in sales.
  • Experience serving customers, recommending products, or meeting performance goals is helpful.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Applicants must hold a Michigan Property and Casualty insurance license or be willing to obtain it. We’ll explain licensing assistance and required timing during the interview.

What You Can Expect From Us

  • Base salary plus commissions and bonus opportunities.

  • Assistance navigating the licensing process.
