Press Brake Operator

Openwork is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Press Brake Operator to join our team in Marietta, GA. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining hydraulic and mechanical press brakes to bend, shape, and form sheet metal and metal components according to technical specifications.

• Pay Rate: $19.00 per hour

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 4:45 PM – 3:15 AM (10-hour shifts)

• Machine Operation: Set up, calibrate, and safely operate press brakes and related metal-forming machinery to bend, punch, and shape sheet metal to blueprint specifications.

• Blueprint Reading & Technical Execution: Interpret engineering drawings, production orders, and flat pattern layouts to determine proper bend allowances, tooling sequences, and machine dimensions.

• Tooling Setup: Select, align, and secure the appropriate dies, punches, and back gauges required for specific material gauges and bend angles.

• Quality Inspection: Perform first-piece and in-process visual and dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and protractors to verify compliance with tight tolerances.

• Material Handling: Load, position, and maneuver metal blanks and finished parts, including repetitive lifting of materials weighing 50 lbs or more.

• Machine Maintenance & Housekeeping: Conduct routine equipment checks, monitor fluid levels, perform basic preventive maintenance, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace following 5S standards.

• Safety & Attendance: Adhere strictly to plant safety guidelines, lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols, and machine guard procedures while demonstrating consistent, punctual attendance.

• Experience: Prior experience as a Press Brake Operator, CNC Machine Operator, or general metal fabrication machine operator.

• Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints, understand bend deductions/tolerances, and use precision measuring instruments (calipers, protractors, tape measures).

• Physical Capability: Ability to stand for long shifts, bend, reach, and lift materials weighing 50 lbs or more safely.

• Schedule Flexibility: Ability to reliably work the 4:45 PM – 3:15 AM shift schedule, Monday through Friday.

• Mindset: Strong mechanical aptitude, high attention to detail, and a collaborative team attitude.

• Reliability: Excellent punctuality and reliable transportation to ensure consistent on-time attendance every day.
