Machine Builder

As a Machine Builder, you will assemble, test, repair, and rebuild custom industrial machinery on a full-time, first-shift schedule. You will fit and align mechanical components, verify machine functionality against customer specifications, follow assembly drawings and inspection checklists, and occasionally support customer equipment repairs or rework. This role works as part of a cross-functional production team and requires the ability to work overtime and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. The starting pay range is $24–$30 per hour depending on experience, with performance evaluations every 90 days and eligibility for increases up to a current maximum of $31.50 per hour. The role also participates in a yearly profit-share plan.

Responsibilities

• Assemble custom industrial machinery in accordance with customer specifications.
• Fit and align bearings, shafts, drive transmissions, belts, pulleys, chains, sprockets, and gearing.
• Install and assemble mechanical drives, housings, and related components.
• Interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, work instructions, and shop documentation.
• Use measuring instruments and inspection checklists to verify quality and conformance.
• Test completed machines and complete required sign-off procedures.
• Repair or rebuild customer equipment returned for breakdown-related rework.
• Provide cross-functional support to other critical departments as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Two to three years of relevant hands-on experience, vocational training, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and assembly drawings.
• Knowledge of shop mathematics, machine construction, and mechanical systems.
• Proficiency using shop measuring instruments.
• Ability to work overtime.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of machine-building experience.
• Vocational training in machine construction, mechanical systems, or a related field.
• Experience with mechanical assembly, bearing installation, shaft alignment, belt and gear assembly, and precision measurement.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and use hand and power tools.
• Strong attention to detail and cross-functional collaboration skills.
