We are looking for an experienced, dependable, and self-motivated equipment operator who takes pride in doing quality work. We need someone who knows how to operate equipment efficiently and, more importantly, knows how to make a job look good when it's finished.
You need to be able to look at a property, understand what needs to be done, and make it happen without needing engineered plans or GPS equipment to guide you.
We are looking for someone with practical experience, good judgment, and an eye for detail who can work independently and take pride in the finished product.
Most of our work is within 15 miles of Leeds, Alabama, so extensive overnight travel is not required.
Job Responsibilities
- Operate excavators, skid steers, track loaders, dozers, and other heavy equipment efficiently and safely.
- Grade and shape properties using your experience and judgment without relying on GPS equipment or engineered grading plans.
- Finish-grade yards and prepare them for sod installation.
- Install septic systems, including excavation, layout, and backfilling.
- Perform house demolitions and site clearing.
- Install underground pipe and perform associated excavation and backfill work.
- Load dump trucks safely and efficiently.
- Perform general dirt work, excavation, drainage, and site preparation.
- Maintain proper grades, slopes, and drainage while producing a clean, professional finished product.
- Perform daily equipment inspections, greasing, fluid checks, and routine maintenance.
- Keep equipment clean and report mechanical problems before they become major repairs.
- Work independently, solve problems in the field, and complete jobs efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site.
- Ability to use a laser level.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment is required.
- Ability to operate multiple types of equipment efficiently and confidently.
- Ability to grade and finish a site by eye without relying on GPS or engineered plans.
- Practical knowledge of excavation, grading, drainage, and dirt work.
- Experience installing septic systems and underground pipe is a major plus.
- Experience with demolition, loading trucks, and finish grading is preferred.
- Must be dependable, punctual, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Must take pride in workmanship and care about the quality of the finished product.
- Must follow safe operating practices at all times.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform daily equipment maintenance and inspections.
- CDL is a HUGE plus, but it is not required.

- Smoking is not permitted inside any equipment.
- Operators are expected to treat equipment responsibly and report problems promptly.
- Reckless operation, careless equipment handling, and poor job-site safety will not be tolerated.
