About the Role
Bring your CNC programming prowess to projects that span advanced milling and turning. In this customer-facing role, you’ll pair hands-on G-code/M-code expertise with real-world machining to design, refine, and validate processes that raise the bar on part quality, cycle time, and tool life. Expect meaningful variety, on-site problem solving, and the satisfaction of seeing your programs run flawlessly on the shop floor.
A Week in the Role
- Monday: Review part models, materials, and machine capabilities; craft efficient toolpaths for multi-axis mills and mill-turn lathes.
- Tuesday: Simulate, post, and refine CAM programs; validate workholding and sequencing strategies.
- Wednesday: Travel to a customer site to troubleshoot a stubborn surface finish issue; dial in parameters and prove out.
- Thursday: Lead an on-machine demo and mini-training; document best practices and hand off recommendations.
- Friday: Recap outcomes, capture lessons learned, and line up the next application trial.
Core Outcomes You’ll Drive
- Produce reliable, optimized CNC programs for milling and turning, including 4/5-axis and mill-turn platforms.
- Analyze existing processes; reduce cycle times, extend tool life, and elevate dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
- Diagnose programming, tooling, workholding, and machine geometry issues; implement pragmatic, data-backed fixes.
- Stand up new applications and production methods; validate results and document standards and best practices.
- Partner with customers and internal teams; run demos, application trials, process validations, and technical trainings.
- Execute travel-based projects efficiently; communicate findings, risks, and next steps with clarity.
