Automation & Robotics Software Engineer

One Off Robotics

Chattanooga, TN • $60,000 to $120,000 / yr • 10/27/2026

Job Description

Job Description

One Off Robotics builds some of the largest robotic metal 3D printing systems in the industry, and we run them as a service. Based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, our team of engineers, designers and builders designs, wires, programs and commissions large-format robotic additive manufacturing work cells, then puts them to work producing real metal parts for customers.

The role

You'll write the software that makes our robotic work cells run, from the PLC and robot controller up to the Windows applications our operators use every day. You'll work across the whole stack and help shape how our software is architected as we scale from a few systems to many.

What you'll do

  • Program and maintain PLC logic for cell control, sequencing, I/O and safety interlocks
  • Program industrial robots, with a focus on ABB robots
  • Design, build and maintain Windows desktop applications in .NET (C#) that integrate with robots, PLCs and process equipment
  • Help define and evolve our software architecture so it stays maintainable, testable and scalable
  • Commission, debug and support systems on our shop floor and at customer sites
  • Work closely with our electrical and mechanical engineers to bring new cells online
  • Use AI tools every day to write, review, test and document code faster

What we're looking for

  • 4+ years of professional experience in industrial automation or robotics software (senior candidates: 8+ years, with experience owning a system's architecture)
  • Hands-on PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff or similar)
  • Industrial robot programming experience; ABB robots and Kuka robots preferred
  • Strong C# / .NET skills building Windows applications
  • A solid grasp of software architecture: clean structure, interfaces between systems, and designing for change
  • Comfortable reading electrical schematics and working next to live equipment
  • Self-starter who takes ownership, communicates clearly and works well on a small team
  • Willing to travel to customer sites for installation and commissioning

Nice to have

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar, or equivalent experience
  • AI proficiency
  • ABB RobotStudio, offline programming or simulation experience
  • Industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus, OPC UA)
  • Experience with HMIs, data logging, machine vision or process monitoring
  • Experience with motion control, CNC, welding or additive manufacturing
  • Source control (Git) and disciplined release practices

The details

  • Full-time, on-site in Chattanooga, TN. This role is not remote.
  • Salaried. Please include your desired salary with your application.
  • Flexible hours. We're a fast-paced, growing company and expect a full week, typically 40+ hours.
  • Paid company holidays
  • 10 days PTO
  • As an early-stage company, we don't currently offer health, dental or vision insurance
  • Some travel to customer sites
  • Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs and work on an active shop floor
