Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to support core accounting operations for a long-term contract opportunity in Exeter, New Hampshire. This role centers on maintaining accurate financial records, leading monthly close activities, and providing meaningful reporting insights to finance leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger expertise, a hands-on approach to reconciliations and journal entries, and the ability to contribute during audit and planning cycles.
Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly closing activities, including preparation and review of journal entries, account analysis, and timely completion of close deliverables.
• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
• Manage general ledger accounting tasks and maintain supporting documentation for key accounts and transactions.
• Partner with external auditors during year-end financial statement audits by preparing schedules, answering inquiries, and coordinating requested materials.
• Collaborate with finance leadership to analyze budget-to-actual results and provide reporting at the cost center level.
• Prepare balance sheet fluctuation analysis and explain key movements to support management review and decision-making.
• Help strengthen accounting processes and support system-related initiatives, including work involving SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA environments when applicable.
• Contribute to ongoing financial reporting needs while ensuring compliance with internal controls and established accounting practices.• 5+ years of accounting experience, including substantial responsibility for month-end close and general ledger activities.
• Demonstrated experience preparing journal entries and completing account reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.
• Strong background supporting financial statement audits and working with external audit teams.
• Proven ability to analyze balance sheet activity, research discrepancies, and resolve issues efficiently.
• Experience producing budget versus actual reporting and cost center analysis in partnership with finance stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of SAP ERP, including experience with SAP S/4HANA or related implementation exposure preferred.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting best practices.
