Job Description

The Construction Project Manager leads end-to-end delivery of restaurant construction, remodels, and capital improvement projects, serving as the primary on-site representative and field leader. This owner-side role focuses on safe, efficient, and high-quality execution while ensuring all work aligns with established standards, drawings, and specifications. It is well-suited for an experienced Superintendent or Field Construction Manager seeking to move into an owner-side position, gain broader project exposure, and build a long-term career while remaining closely connected to the field.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day job-site execution for restaurant construction, remodels, and capital improvement projects, ensuring work progresses safely, efficiently, and according to plan.
• Serve as the primary on-site representative, acting as the main point of contact for field activities and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee construction activities in alignment with company standards, project specifications, and engineering documents, maintaining a strong focus on quality and compliance.
• Review, interpret, and work from blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications to guide field execution and resolve issues in real time.
• Ensure that all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) components for intricate kitchen and restaurant projects are installed and coordinated correctly.
• Manage multiple projects within the restaurant and facilities portfolio, including new construction and remodels, across a range of project sizes.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or delays, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on schedule and within scope.
• Collaborate closely with general contractors, trade partners, and facilities teams to ensure coordinated, safe, and efficient work on site.
• Provide hands-on leadership in the field, maintaining a visible presence at job sites as needed to support execution and problem-solving.
• Uphold and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring that all work is performed in a safe manner and in compliance with applicable safety standards.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager within commercial construction, either with a general contractor or as an owners representative.
• Demonstrated experience working with drawings and blueprints at a high level, including complex commercial projects.
• Experience in restaurant construction or facilities maintenance, with a strong history in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems for intricate kitchen and restaurant projects.
• Proven ability to read blueprints and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and engineering documents accurately.
• Hands-on field leadership experience as a Superintendent, Field Construction Manager, or similar role within commercial construction.
• Strong ability to manage multiple construction or capital improvement projects concurrently in a commercial environment.
• Ability to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of construction activities in alignment with company standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience delivering restaurant projects and capital improvements in the $20 million to $100 million range.
• experience in facilities-related construction or maintenance for restaurant or hospitality environments.
• Interest in transitioning from a traditional field role into an owner-side leadership position while remaining closely connected to field operations.
• Comfort working within a lean team environment that requires hands-on involvement and accountability for execution.

Work Environment

The Construction Project Manager primarily works from an office location in Fairfax, VA, functioning as a Project Manager while also visiting job sites as needed to support field execution. The role operates within a lean, owner-side team that values hands-on leadership and close collaboration with field personnel, general contractors, and facilities teams. The environment combines office-based project management responsibilitiessuch as reviewing drawings, coordinating work, and managing documentationwith periodic on-site presence at active restaurant construction and remodel projects. Dress expectations may vary between office and job-site settings, with professional attire in the office and appropriate, safety-conscious clothing and personal protective equipment when visiting job sites.

This is a Permanent position based out of Fairfax, VA.

The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $180000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

The position is primarily based out of the Fairfax, VA location, functioning largely as a Project Manager while also spending time on active job sites as needed. The work environment blends office-based project management responsibilities with periodic on-site presence at restaurant construction, remodel, and capital improvement projects. The role involves regular use of construction documents such as blueprints, specifications, and engineering drawings, as well as coordination with contractors, facilities personnel, and internal stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery.
