Metal Building Erection Foreman

About the Job

Building Erection Foreman is a full-time, on-site role based in Birmingham, AL. This role oversees daily field operations related to metal building erection, including planning work sequences, assigning tasks, and monitoring productivity and safety for crew members. The Foreman coordinates with project managers and other trades to ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available and used efficiently, and that work is completed on schedule and in accordance with specifications and quality standards.

Daily responsibilities include reading and interpreting drawings, directing the assembly and installation of structural components, inspecting work, addressing site issues, and maintaining clear communication with team members and leadership. The Foreman also supports training of crew members, promotes a safety-focused culture, and assists with routine maintenance of tools and equipment used in metal building erection.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong supervisory skills, including crew leadership, task delegation, and on-site coordination.

• Candidates should possess heavy equipment capabilities, such as operating or directing the use of lifts, cranes, and other construction machinery.

• Candidates should possess clear communication skills for interacting with crew members, project managers, and other stakeholders.

• Candidates should possess carpentry-related skills, including structural assembly, metal building framing, and use of hand and power tools.

• Candidates should possess basic maintenance skills for inspecting and maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas.

• Experience in commercial construction or metal building erection, with knowledge of jobsite safety practices and OSHA standards.

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications in construction, safety, or equipment operation are beneficial.

• Reliable transportation to the Birmingham, AL jobsite and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Safety training: OSHA 30-hour card

• Valid driver's license

• Trained in First-Aid/CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens.

• Specialized training in applicable areas: crane CCL, forklift, manufacturer PEMB erector certification, man lift, rigging, etc.

• Bilingual fluency (English and 2nd language) Preferred
