Industrial Electrical Controls Service Engineer

At JDC Power Systems, LLC, we’re hiring an FSR3-level engineer to own on-site troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning for customer facilities.
What You’ll Do
- Pinpoint faults and repair transformers, circuit breakers, LV/MV switchgear, and PLC-driven controls.
- Run diagnostics and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
- Lead and support commissioning/startups, validating against customer requirements.
- Serve as the single on-site contact, guide customers through findings, and deliver concise training on safe operation and routine care.
- Capture test data, service actions, and system feedback in clear documentation.
- Use remote support tools whenever feasible to speed resolution.
- Work with fellow technicians to coordinate schedules, parts, and expertise.
- Work safelyconsistentlyby following company procedures, OSHA best practices, and industry codes; stay current via ongoing safety training.
Who You Are Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Associate’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline (preferred).
- Nice-to-have certifications: NFPA 70E, OSHA 30, related technical credentials.
Experience
- 3–5 years in a field service role centered on power systems, electrical equipment, or industrial controls.
- Proven experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, including transformers and breakers.
Skills
- Advanced troubleshooting and pragmatic problem-solving.
- Comfort using field service management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
- Strong communicatorable to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Independent and organized; able to juggle multiple service priorities.
Bonus Knowledge
- Low- and medium-voltage electrical systems.
- Basic PLC, SCADA, and protective relay familiarity.
Where You’ll Go
- Location: Various.
- Frequent travel with overnights to customer sites and JDC locations nationwide.
- Routine day/weekly travel across the Region to customer locations and internal field service sites; occasional trips to Hackettstown, NJ to meet with leadership.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
