On N On Community Child Care is seeking a reliable and caring Educator (Group Leader) / 7D Driver for our after-school program in Springfield, Massachusetts.

This dual-role position combines engaging school-age children in educational and recreational activities with providing safe student transportation. We're looking for someone who is dependable, patient, safety-conscious, and enjoys creating a positive and supportive environment for children.

What You'll Do

After School Program Responsibilities

• Supervise students and maintain a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate educational, recreational, and enrichment activities.
• Support arts and crafts, games, and other daily program activities.
• Assist with lesson planning and daily program schedules.
• Support students' academic, social, and emotional development.
• Assist with student arrival, dismissal, attendance, and daily routines.
• Supervise students during indoor, outdoor, and school vacation activities.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe classrooms and activity areas.
• Collaborate with educators and supervisors to address student needs.
• Follow Massachusetts EEC regulations and company policies.
  
  

7D Driver Responsibilities

• Safely transport students between schools, program locations, and other authorized destinations.
• Follow assigned transportation routes and schedules.
• Maintain student safety and appropriate behavior during transportation.
• Assist children with safely entering and exiting the vehicle.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Keep assigned vehicles clean and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
• Complete required transportation records and reports.
• Communicate transportation issues or student concerns to supervisors.
• Follow Massachusetts 7D transportation regulations and company safety procedures.
• Maintain all required driver qualifications and certifications.
  
  

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of verified work experience with school-age children in an EEC-licensed program.
• Must provide a completed Verification of School Age Work Experience form.
• Valid Massachusetts driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Valid Massachusetts 7D School Pupil Transport Certificate, or willingness to obtain one before employment.
• Must successfully complete all applicable background checks, including the Massachusetts EEC Background Record Check (BRC).
• Must meet applicable Massachusetts EEC qualifications and training requirements.
• First Aid and CPR certification required or obtained within the required timeframe.
• Strong communication, organizational, and student management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with children, families, and coworkers.
• Must be punctual, dependable, and committed to student safety.
  
  

7D Licensing Assistance

Applicants who do not currently hold a Massachusetts 7D School Pupil Transport Certificate are welcome to apply.

The company may assist qualified candidates with the licensing process after completion of the 7D Driver Training Agreement.

Candidates must obtain the required certification as soon as possible and before receiving an official job offer for this dual-role position.

Schedule

• Part-time, Monday through Friday, approximately 25 hours per week.
• Morning and afternoon transportation shifts (split schedule).
• Program-Dependent Flexibility: Hours may vary based on transportation routes, program schedules, and site needs.
• Additional hours may be available during school vacations and summer programs.
  
  

Pay & Benefits

$19.00–$21.00 per hour, based on certification, relevant experience, and qualifications.
