Assess participants' readiness for employment by evaluating their skills, interests, strengths, and employment goals through discovery activities and assessments.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with local employers, public agencies, community organizations, and other partners to identify employment opportunities.
Generate job leads through employer outreach, responding to job postings, networking, and actively identifying positions that align with participants' interests and goals.
Assist participants with job-search strategies, including resume development, completing applications, interview preparation, and networking.
Support and coach participants throughout the employment process and provide ongoing support after placement.
Maintain regular communication with employers to promote successful placements and address workplace challenges or concerns.
Serve as an advocate and liaison between participants, employers, families, and other members of the individual's support team.
Track and document participant progress, employment outcomes, job development activities, and employer feedback.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with program requirements and organizational policies.
Participate in team meetings, training, and other activities designed to support quality employment services.
Required:
2–3 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Valid and clean New York State Driver's License.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Strong computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office is a plus.
Self-starter who is flexible, adaptable, and able to work independently.
Must possess and maintain a personal cell phone/smartphone for work-related communication as a condition of employment.
Must have completed the orientation period of 3–6 months in the current position.
Must be in good standing in the current position.
Must be current with all required mandatory trainings.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree.
Experience in employment services, job development, vocational rehabilitation, supported employment, or a related field.
Experience developing relationships with employers or community-based organizations.
Nassau and Suffolk Counties, NY
This position requires travel throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
Personal vehicle required. Mileage reimbursement is provided.
