The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the overall management and coordination of
warehouse and logistics operations, including picking, packing, loading, shipping,
inventory control, and transportation/delivery activities. This position provides leadership
and direction to warehouse personnel and drivers while ensuring the safe, accurate,
and timely movement and delivery of products.
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Warehouse Manager works closely with
Production and other departments to coordinate product flow, optimize warehouse
processes, maintain inventory accuracy, and ensure customer delivery requirements
are met. The successful candidate will be a highly organized, hands-on leader with
strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee daily warehouse and logistics activities, including picking, packing,
staging, loading, shipping, and delivery operations.
Partner with Production to coordinate the timely flow of finished product from the
production floor to the warehouse based on shipping schedules and customer
requirements.
Ensure orders are accurately picked, properly staged, and ready for loading
according to established schedules.
Ensure products are verified for accuracy and condition prior to loading to
minimize shipping errors, shortages, and discrepancies.
Plan and coordinate daily truck routes and delivery schedules to support efficient
and on-time customer deliveries.
Monitor warehouse priorities and adjust workflow and resources as necessary to
meet changing production and shipping requirements.
Coordinate with material loaders to ensure product movement reflects
production, shipping, and customer priorities.
Maintain overall responsibility for the companys truck fleet and trailers, including
coordinating availability, maintenance needs, and operational readiness.
Utilize the company ERP system to manage and support pick, pack, ship,
inventory, and related warehouse transactions.
Develop and maintain reports and system inquiries necessary to monitor
warehouse and logistics performance.
Identify opportunities to improve warehouse processes, product flow, space
utilization, accuracy, and overall efficiency.
Maintain overall responsibility for inventory control and accuracy within the
warehouse.
Directly manages approximately 8–10 non-supervisory warehouse and logistics
employees.
Establish and maintain an effective cycle count program.
Monitor inventory transactions and investigate and resolve inventory
discrepancies.
Work with appropriate departments to identify root causes of inventory variances
and implement corrective actions.
Ensure products are properly identified, stored, handled, and accounted for
throughout the warehouse.
Support periodic and year-end physical inventory activities as required.
Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and support to warehouse employees
and drivers to ensure safe, productive, and cohesive operations.
Plan, assign, and direct work based on warehouse priorities, staffing levels,
production requirements, and delivery schedules.
Monitor employee performance and provide regular coaching, feedback, and
development.
Conduct one-on-one discussions with employees regarding performance,
development opportunities, and career growth.
Partner with Human Resources and the Plant Manager to assess staffing
requirements, including the need for temporary or additional employees.
Participate in the recruitment, selection, onboarding, and training of warehouse
and logistics employees.
Assist with the development and maintenance of accurate job descriptions and
departmental procedures.
Address employee performance concerns, workplace issues, and complaints
appropriately and in accordance with company policies.
Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and organized warehouse environment.
Ensure warehouse employees and drivers follow company safety policies,
procedures, and established work practices.
Identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, or workplace hazards and take appropriate
corrective action.
Ensure employees are properly trained on applicable equipment, procedures,
and safety requirements.
Work with management to support compliance with applicable company policies
and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Strong commitment to workplace safety with the ability to recognize and
appropriately address potential safety risks.
Minimum of 10 years of warehouse/logistics experience, including
significant experience in a warehouse management or supervisory role.
Demonstrated experience managing warehouse operations, inventory control,
shipping, receiving, and/or transportation functions.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage, coach, and develop
employees.
Ability to quickly learn production processes and develop effective working
relationships with Production and other operational teams.
Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience working with ERP or warehouse management systems, including
inventory and pick, pack, and ship transactions.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced
environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and effectively contribute
within a team environment.
