Johnson Service Group is seeking entry level Manufacturing Engineers to assist in Aircraft Interior Components and Secondary Structures.
This position requires a strong, motivated, and resourceful problem solver to work in a dynamic
manufacturing engineering environment for aircraft interior components and secondary support structure.
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for working with production and engineering to optimize the production process, resolve issues and report status under the supervision of the Value Stream Manager.
Duties:
- Daily reporting and maintenance of the production line of balance (LOB) to Value Stream Manager.
- Lead Lean, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives to eliminate waste, reduce scrap, and lower cost.
- Ensure production processes comply with aerospace standards (AS9100, FAA, etc.).
- Assist and support quality assurance in First Article Inspection (FAI) activities.
- Review and coordination of liaison engineering activities with disposition of non-conforming configurations; Lead Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
- Support engineering and production in implementing drawing updates, design changes and product improvements; Generate engineering end items as required to support production.
- Review and approve engineering drawings for Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews as part of the drawing release process
The qualified candidate will offer, as a minimum, the following key technical skills and experience:
- Experience: 0–2 years of design or manufacturing engineering experience, or a minimum of 3 years of production experience in a supervisory role, preferably in the aviation industry.
- Production Optimization: Knowledge and understanding of the operation and optimization of production floor layouts, production cells, and production workflows to minimize cycle times and material handling.
- Engineering Drawings: Ability to interpret engineering drawings and process specifications.
- GD&T Knowledge: Basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) practices for multi-sheet drawings as outlined by ANSI/ASME Y14 or MIL-STD-100G.
- PC Proficiency: Proficiency with a Windows OS-based PC platform, including Office365 Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The following experience and software capabilities are desired:
- Documentation: Experience generating detailed work instructions, routers, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the production and assembly of complex aircraft interior components and secondary support structures.
- ERP Systems: Experience utilizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Composites Structures: Knowledge and experience with glass/epoxy honeycomb composite panel assemblies.
- Deliverables: Ability to generate engineering end items such as drawings, change orders, drawing redlines, and non-routine reports.
- CAD/CAM: Knowledge and experience with CAD design and CAM programming software such as AutoCAD, Fusion 360, CATIA, or SolidWorks.
- The qualified individual must also be able to commit to deadlines, demonstrate consistent and reliable work habits, and exhibit increased proficiency in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 0–2 years of experience in industrial or mechanical engineering, or a minimum of 3 years of experience in a production supervisory role.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, or a minimum of 3 years of professional production supervisory experience.
- Industry Preference: Candidates with direct experience in the aircraft interior industry may be prioritized.
- Citizenship: US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
