Job Title: CNC Programmer

Job Location: Office & Production floor

Reports to: Engineering Supervisor

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimize, and maintain CNC programs for multi-axis machining centers.
  • Determine tooling strategies, cutting parameters, and work holding solutions to maximize productivity and quality.
  • Perform program proof-outs, first article inspections, and process validation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time reduction, setup reduction, and cost savings.
  • Collaborate with Technical Planning, Quality, and Production to resolve manufacturing issues and improve throughput.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, setup sheets, work instructions, and tooling lists.
  • Support MRB, corrective actions, and root cause investigations related to machining operations.
  • Utilize GD&T requirements to ensure manufacturability and compliance of machined components.
  • Produce solidworks models from existing aircraft drawings
  • Establish Mfg. required processes including any allowances for special processing or future assembly.

Education, Skills & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 5 years of CNC programming and manufacturing engineering experience in a precision machining environment.
  • Proven ability to apply practical and advanced manufacturing technologies. This includes applying the principles, techniques and procedures required to design and create a manufacturing process to produce various aircraft parts and assemblies utilizing various equipment available.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing an effective, efficient manufacturing process.
  • Experience programming 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC Machining centers.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Ability to read and interpret aerospace drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Experience with process development, routing creation, and manufacturing planning.
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials including aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, and specialty alloys
  • Experience selecting tooling, feeds, speeds, and machining strategies for complex components.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and electronic manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience supporting AS9100 and customer quality requirements preferred.
  • Experience with various CNC equipment (Vertical Mills, Horizontal Mills (including 5 axes), Lathes with live tooling and various manual equipment.
  • Extensive experience with SolidWorks and/ or NX for 3D modeling, design, and manufacturing support.
  • Advanced CAM programming experience using Gibbs CAM, Siemens NX, Mastercam, or equivalent software. NX preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting production deadlines.
  • Capability to work within a team environment

  • Position may require the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 30-75 pounds (50-75 lbs. would have partner assistance)
  • Position may require activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.

Work Environment

The plant is a machining environment; therefore, you may be required to wear respiratory protection due to airborne particles, chemicals & solvents depending on position.

Safety glasses are always required in production areas. OSHA regulations are followed.
