WHO WE NEED

Come join our Transportation Team as we continue to improve the communities where we live, work, grow, and play in! Delta is looking to hire an experienced hands-on Civil Engineer. The ideal candidate will have NYSDOT, and federal aid funded pass-through project experience and or experience working with private clients on civil site design. As a Civil Engineer at Delta, you will have the opportunity to take on the lead design of projects with many of our long-term clients at the county and municipal levels, while also mentoring our eager to learn up and coming younger staff.

The ideal candidates' responsibilities will include lead engineering design and overseeing support staff, with primary focus points being:

  • The primary design point of contact with our Group Director, and for external communications with the project client.
  • Hands-on for design of the detailed components of the project, ranging from simple parking lot grading to complete site redevelopment projects to streetscape projects to complex multi-leg intersection design.
  • Leading assignments and mentoring of project design staff. The technical staff you’ll be working with range from recent college graduates to those with more than 16 years of postgraduate experience. Our design software includes but is not limited to AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation InRoads, and MicroStation Storm and Sanitary.
  • Collaborate with the Group Director, Business Development Department, and other Senior Staff in the Transportation/Civil Engineering Services Department in the development of project proposals.
  • Consistent communication with other the Group Director, client contacts, and county/state agencies engaged in reviews of your team’s assignments.
  • Meet with and / or present in front of clients and the public.
  • Our client's range within private developers, state-level agencies, local municipalities and include other subconsultant engineering firms; this will occasionally require you to work outside of the normal business hour to meet the needs of our clientele.
  • Responsible for meeting project deadlines and budgets.
  • Present at weekly team meetings to discuss workload needs and staff assignments.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ten to fifteen years of progressive design and team lead experience
  • A BS is preferred, but an Associates is acceptable in Civil Engineering
  • A plus but not required - EIT or NYS PE, or a PE in another northeastern state with mixed seasons and ability to secure licensure in NYS within a reasonable timeframe (<3 years)
  • Familiarity with Municipal, AASHTO, and NYSDOT design standards
  • Proven team leadership relationship skills. Prior client relationship coordination is a plus.
  • A sincere interest in working in a collaborative work hard/play environment which thrives on open discussion and learning / teaching moments among its colleagues.

This is a full-time position available preferably at our headquarters in Endwell NY, or alternatively in Vernon, one of our other upstate NY offices. This position, upon being acclimated and trained with the Transportation/Civil Engineering team, will be eligible to a hybrid work model. At Delta we offer the opportunity for our team members to work remotely from their home one day a week if they wish and four days from a Delta office location.

Hiring Salary Range: $85,000-$105,000 (Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities along with an internal equity and alignment with market area data.)
