Location: Lugoff, South Carolina

Position Type: Full-Time | On-Site

Overview

R12 Talent is recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer for a well-established manufacturing client in Lugoff, South Carolina.

This position will play a key role in improving manufacturing processes across metal fabrication, powder coating, and product assembly operations. You will work directly with production, quality, welding, and supply chain teams to solve manufacturing challenges, introduce process improvements, and ensure products can be manufactured safely, efficiently, and consistently.

This is a hands-on engineering opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to production and seeing their improvements make a direct impact on the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes, tooling, and production methods

  • Support day-to-day manufacturing across powder coating and assembly operations

  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to ensure products can be manufactured effectively

  • Design and introduce tooling and fixtures to improve assembly processes, ergonomics, quality, and productivity

  • Provide technical support to production teams and troubleshoot manufacturing issues

  • Work closely with welding, production, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve process challenges

  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation including Bills of Materials, routings, part masters, and process information

  • Support product costing and manufacturing cost estimates

  • Utilize MRP/MRPII systems to support production planning and material flow

  • Participate in FMEA activities to identify manufacturing risks and implement preventative actions

  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions relating to quality and production issues

  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, and manufacturing cost

  • Support the introduction of new products and manufacturing processes

  • Drive continuous improvement projects throughout production

  • Take ownership of engineering projects and work independently when required

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred

  • Equivalent hands-on manufacturing and engineering experience will also be considered

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment

  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T

  • Experience with manufacturing systems such as MRP or MRPII

  • Knowledge of FMEA and manufacturing risk analysis

  • Experience with CAD software

  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC)

  • Strong mechanical and manufacturing problem-solving ability

  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both engineering and shop-floor teams

  • Comfortable managing projects and solving problems with limited supervision

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in any of the following areas would be particularly relevant:

  • Sheet metal fabrication

  • Powder coating or industrial paint processes

  • Product assembly

  • Manual and/or robotic welding

  • Tooling and fixture design

  • MRP/MRPII systems

  • Part masters and Bills of Materials

  • Shop routings

  • Product costing and cost analysis

  • FMEA and root cause analysis

  • CAD

  • Continuous improvement

Around 5 years of sheet metal fabrication experience would be particularly beneficial.

The Type of Engineer We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who enjoys being involved in manufacturing rather than working purely from a desk.

You'll be expected to spend time with production teams, understand where processes can be improved, troubleshoot issues, and then develop practical engineering solutions.

Whether that's designing a better fixture, improving an assembly process, resolving a quality issue, supporting powder coating operations, or finding a more efficient way to manufacture a component, you'll have the opportunity to make a visible impact on daily production.

Why Consider This Opportunity?
  • Join an established precision manufacturing environment

  • Work across fabrication, welding, powder coating, and assembly operations

  • Take ownership of meaningful manufacturing improvement projects

  • Work closely with production and engineering teams

  • Opportunity to influence safety, quality, efficiency, and manufacturing cost

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package

  • Long-term opportunity for professional and technical development
