Job Description

Job Description

Boston, Massachusetts

A highly visible retail project leadership role for an architect who enjoys fast-moving work, close client partnership, technical problem solving, and carrying projects from early feasibility through construction and close-out.

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a resourceful Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to lead teams supporting one of the firm's largest national client relationships. The role is based in the Boston office and combines client leadership, design and technical coordination, project delivery, and team mentorship across multiple retail projects.

The work spans feasibility and due diligence through design development, construction documentation, approvals, construction-phase services, and close-out. The environment is collaborative, iterative, design-focused, and results-oriented.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Ownership across the full project lifecycle rather than a narrowly defined production role.
  • Direct exposure to a major national client and the opportunity to help strengthen and grow an important partnership.
  • A mix of architectural and interior design project leadership, with meaningful technical depth.
  • High project velocity and variety: multiple fast-paced assignments require prioritization, judgment, and calm execution.
  • A culture that values dialogue, debate, curiosity, inclusive teams, mentorship, and ideas from every experience level.
  • Opportunity to mentor colleagues and help develop design, technical, and leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead client, team, and project coordination for multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
  • Manage project delivery from feasibility assessment and due diligence through design, documentation, approvals, construction administration, and close-out.
  • Coordinate landlords, MEP and structural consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
  • Lead existing-conditions site surveys, entitlement support, code reviews, and accessibility reviews.
  • Guide design development and construction-document preparation while maintaining production schedules and quality.
  • Navigate building and zoning departments for project approvals.
  • Apply brand standards intelligently to project-specific conditions and requirements.
  • Provide advanced technical problem solving related to building construction and technologies.
  • Mentor and motivate team members while creating opportunities for growth and learning.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally with clients and project stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture.
  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Recent retail project experience.
  • Experience leading both interior design and architectural projects.
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD, including demonstrated construction-documentation experience.
  • Strong project organization, time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and deliver thoughtful, high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Travel availability; travel is required for the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Architecture licensure preferred.
  • LEED AP accreditation is a plus.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The strongest candidate will be a calm, organized project leader who combines retail experience with technical depth and a collaborative, positive work style. They should be comfortable managing several moving projects, communicating directly with clients, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and making sound decisions without losing sight of design quality or end-user experience.

Compensation & Benefits

Estimated base salary: $80,000-$120,000, contingent on relevant experience, plus profit sharing and benefits. The source materials also state that the firm contributes to professional-development expenses.
