Shift Lead – Cannabis Retail
Location: MMD Marina Del Rey
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $19.75–$20.50 per hour, based on experience, plus tips
MMD Marina Del Rey is seeking an experienced, dependable, and customer-focused Shift Lead to support daily dispensary operations. This position works closely with store leadership to supervise the sales floor, guide employees, maintain compliance, and provide an excellent customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support Budtenders during assigned shifts
- Deliver friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient customer service
- Open and close the store according to established procedures
- Assign daily duties and ensure employees remain productive
- Monitor online orders and ensure they are accepted and prepared promptly
- Support pickup and curbside operations
- Verify customer identification and maintain compliance with all cannabis regulations
- Assist with cash handling, drawer counts, deposits, and end-of-day reconciliation
- Complete required opening, closing, and shift documentation
- Address customer concerns professionally
- Support inventory organization, restocking, audits, and product intake as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sales floor
- Communicate operational, staffing, compliance, and security concerns to management
- Coach employees and help maintain a positive, respectful workplace
- Follow all company policies and California cannabis regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned by store or regional leadership
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Previous cannabis retail experience strongly preferred
- Previous supervisory, keyholder, or Shift Lead experience preferred
- Strong customer-service and leadership skills
- Dependable, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Able to communicate professionally with customers, employees, and management
- Comfortable handling cash and completing basic calculations
- Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds
- Must meet all state and local requirements for cannabis employees
