Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to join an established custom automation manufacturer specializing in turnkey assembly systems and special-purpose automation for medical, defense, electronics, consumer, and industrial applications.
This role is responsible for developing automation concepts, estimating project costs, and creating technical proposals while partnering closely with Sales and customers. The ideal candidate can understand a customer's manufacturing challenge, develop a practical automation solution, determine the appropriate equipment and technology, and confidently communicate the proposed solution.
Job Duties:
Develop concepts and technical solutions for custom automation projects
Create project estimates, quotations, and technical descriptions
Work directly with customers and support the Sales team throughout the quoting process
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, and engineering teams
Evaluate automation requirements, equipment, robotics, and processes
Manage multiple quoting opportunities simultaneously
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Applications Engineering experience preferred
- 10+ years of automation experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of custom automation and automated equipment
- Proven customer-facing and communication skills
- Experience with project estimating and developing automation concepts
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background preferred
- Associate degree or equivalent technical experience
- Robotics, machine vision, assembly automation, or material handling experience is a plus
