Counter Culture is a family-owned neighborhood restaurant in Slidell, LA, dedicated to serving fresh, delicious sandwiches, salads, soups, and signature frozen yogurt treats in a warm, welcoming environment. We pride ourselves on fast, friendly service and strong community connections. We are looking for an energetic, dependable Assistant Manager to oversee front-of-house (FOH) operations and lead our team with enthusiasm and hospitality.

Job Summary

The Assistant Manager works directly alongside the General Manager and family owners to run day-to-day front-of-house operations. You will be the face of Counter Culture during your shiftsensuring guests receive top-notch service, team members are supported, and daily operations run smoothly from register to dining room and drive-thru.

Key Responsibilities

Front of House Leadership & Guest Experience

  • Welcome guests with warm hospitality, ensure orders are accurate and timely, and maintain high customer satisfaction.
  • Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and special requests promptly and professionally.
  • Oversee dining room, register, and drive-thru flow to maintain speed of service and exceptional cleanliness.

Team Support & Communication

  • Lead, motivate, and mentor FOH staff (cashiers, counter staff, and runners) during shifts.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful team environment grounded in clear communication.
  • Assist with onboarding, training new team members, and holding staff accountable to operational standards.

Daily Operations & Cash Handling

  • Open or close the restaurant as required, ensuring opening/closing checklists are completed thoroughly.
  • Manage POS cash drawers, balance register till, and conduct shift drop procedures.
  • Monitor inventory supplies for FOH (packaging, disposable goods, beverages, prep items) and communicate restocking needs.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and health-code compliant work stations and guest areas.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Prior restaurant or food service experience required (shift lead or supervisory experience is a plus).
  • Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal skills with a guest-first attitude.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Strong verbal communication skills and a passion for working cooperatively in a close-knit team environment.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to jump in wherever neededfrom cash handling and guest interactions to supporting light prep during peak hours.
  • Availability: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, afternoons, and Saturdays (closed/limited hours on Sundays depending on store operating schedule).
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
