Jacob’s Promise is seeking compassionate, dependable Direct Support Professionals to support our faith-based short-term housing program serving returning male citizens ages 30–55 with nonviolent offenses.
Our DSPs help maintain a safe, structured, and welcoming home where participants can build practical skills, pursue personal goals, and prepare for greater independence.
Available shifts: Evening, overnight, and weekend shifts, generally ranging from 8–10 hours.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and supportive residential environment.
- Support participants with daily routines, household responsibilities, and program expectations.
- Reinforce house rules consistently while treating participants with dignity and respect.
- Encourage life skills, positive decision-making, and personal accountability.
- Work with the Success Coach (case manager) to support each participant’s goals.
- Document shift activities, participant concerns, and incidents accurately and promptly.
- Complete shift handoffs and communicate concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow emergency procedures and respond calmly to conflicts or unexpected situations.
- Maintain professional boundaries and protect participant confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Required: At least three years of experience working in the behavioral healthcare field.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and dependable attendance.
- Ability to work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to Jacob’s Promise’s mission and values of compassion, service, dignity, and accountability.
- Willingness to complete required training and pre-employment screening.
- Experience in residential services, reentry programs, or direct support preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred; willingness to obtain certification required.
