Job Description

Join a precision aerospace manufacturing facility as an Inspector, performing detailed mechanical and dimensional inspections on fiber optic connectors, cable harnesses, and machined components. This role focuses on ensuring parts and sub-assemblies meet strict customer and engineering specifications by working with tight tolerances, interpreting technical documentation, and using a variety of measuring tools on either 1st or 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional inspection of parts and sub-assemblies used in aerospace applications.
  • Work with tight tolerances, including +/- 0.005 inches, to verify parts meet engineering and customer requirements.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, customer specifications, planning documents, and other requirements to determine the appropriate inspection process.
  • Inspect parts before and after processing using measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Utilize pin gauges and thread gauges to check critical features and verify compliance with tolerance requirements.
  • Conduct visual inspections to identify defects, nonconformities, and inconsistencies in machined and assembled parts.
  • Record inspection results accurately on appropriate forms and documentation to maintain traceability and quality records.
  • Input inspection data into computer systems in a format that supports decisions on final disposition of discrepant parts.
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to address inspection findings and support continuous improvement in quality control.
  • Follow all aerospace manufacturing and ITAR-related procedures, guidelines, and quality assurance standards while performing inspections.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of quality inspection experience within aerospace or mechanical industries.
  • Experience performing mechanical and dimensional inspections in a machine shop or job shop environment.
  • Proficiency using micrometers and calipers for precise measurement of machined parts.
  • Hands-on experience with pin gauges and thread gauges to verify critical dimensions and threads.
  • Ability to work with and interpret tight tolerances, including +/- 0.005 inches or less.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and customer specifications.
  • in quality control, quality assurance, quality checks, and quality inspection processes.
  • Experience inspecting aluminum machined parts or similar precision components.
  • Comfort working in an aerospace manufacturing and ITAR-controlled environment.
  • Basic computer skills for entering inspection data and maintaining accurate records.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Preferably bilingual in Vietnamese.
  • Experience in a job shop environment is required and strongly emphasized.
  • Prior work with visual inspection techniques to identify defects and nonconforming conditions.
  • Familiarity with fiber optic connectors, cable harnesses, or similar precision assemblies is beneficial.
  • Understanding of aerospace quality standards and documentation practices.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for managing inspection documentation and data.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean aerospace manufacturing environment with more than 150 employees on site, focused on producing fiber optic connectors, cable harnesses, and machined components under ITAR regulations. The facility operates multiple shifts, including a 1st shift schedule of Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with additional Saturday hours from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., totaling approximately 56 hours per week, and a 2nd shift schedule of Monday to Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. with Saturday hours from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., also totaling about 56 hours per week. Work is performed in a manufacturing setting that emphasizes precision, cleanliness, and adherence to aerospace and ITAR standards. Closed-toe shoes are required in the facility, though steel-toe footwear is not mandatory.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Anaheim, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
